Have you heard rumors that there are two different kinds of three strand braids?
One is usually called a french braid. The other commonly goes by the name dutch braid. If you want to see a quick video that explains the difference please take a moment to watch this video.
I don’t know any other name the french braid goes by. If you do, please feel free to let me know. I would love to learn more. I have only ever heard them called french braids.
What names do the dutch braid go by? One is Inside out braids. Another one is reverse french. Also, a cornrow is just a miniature dutch braid.
French and Dutch braids come in a variety of strand numbers.
This article focused on the three strand because it is the most common number to braid with. The other numbers may also be done both french or dutch depending on the pattern you weave. This photo shows both the fishtail and four strand as dutch.

Hairstyles created using rubber bands are typically viewed as childish.
Especially in the States, but that is only because we don’t know how to use rubber bands properly. This video will get my point across perfectly. This is an adult updo for special occasions made with rubber bands. There is nothing childish about it.
Rubber bands can make updos fast and easy if you understand the techniques for using them. Because the hair is securely anchored, it is a durable hairstyle ready for wind and rain. Give it a try. Are you looking for something less formal and more everyday?
This is created with rubber bands also (even though it looks like a braid). It works great for adults and kids alike.
